Well Dressings

varies from year to year. Maps can be obtained from attendants at the well dressings, and from various shops. In 2010, there were eleven:

• Methodist Church Well Dressings 2 Well Dressings in the yard of the Methodist Church on Wood Street
• Memorial Gardens Well Dressings 2 Well Dressings in the Memorial Gardens, next to the Memorial Hall on St Johns Street
• Cruck Cottage Well Dressings 2 Well Dressing on the site of the old Cruck Cottage on St Johns Street
• Churchyard Well Dressing in a small courtyard next to St Mary’s Churchyard, behind the buildings on St Johns Street
• St Mary’s Church Well Dressing inside St Mary’s Church. Only accessible when the Church is open
• Market Place Well Dressing in the southern corner of the Market Place
• Rotary Club Well Dressing in the entrance driveway of Waltham House on St Johns Street
• Causeway Head Well Dressing at the far end of The Causeway, leading off St Johns Street

There were also two very small dressing in the window of a shop on St Johns Street.

How to get there

Wirksworth is located on the B5023 from Duffield (on the A6) and the B5036 from Cromford (also on the A6).

CAR: the in-town car parks can get very busy, but there are other car parks on the edge of town. There is some time limited on-street parking.

BUS: Tuesdays to Saturdays: 2 per hour from Matlock, hourly from Derby and Bakewell; Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday: every 2 hours from Matlock and Belper.
