• 4. Smalldale Well Dressing in a garden at the front of the Bowling Green pub on Smalldale

How to get there

Bradwell is located on the B6049 Tideswell road about 2.5km south of the A625 Sheffield to Castleton road.

CAR: use S33 9AA for satnav
A small car park is provided next to St Lawrence's Parish Church. At busy times a larger car park may be provided in a field (entrance off Town Lane). There is some time limited parking in marked bays on the main road through the village. If parking on side streets, take care to allow plenty of room for large vehicles to pass.

BUS: Monday to Saturday: hourly from Sheffield and Castleton; every 2 hours from Bakewell; Sunday: every 2 hours from Sheffield and Castleton; 4 per day from Bakewell.

TIP: even if you are a habitual car driver, you should still try the experience of a bus ride from Sheffield to Bradwell at least once. From the front of the upper deck you seem to be almost hanging out over the edge of a sheer drop at Surprise View, above Hathersage. Threading the narrow streets of Bradwell provides thrills of a different kind. Those of a nervous disposition should ride downstairs.
